The Wellington Phoenix again found the away trip to WA too much, as their opponents won 2-0 as they were outmuscled and coach David Mitchell also out-manouvered the visitors as they failed to make any headway in a game which was decided in the first half as Danny McBreen and then Todd Howarth converted two easy chances at each end before the interval.

The sapping humidity and heat of Perth did not make the Phoenix task any easy, and Eugene Dadi even missed a penalty kick, as he had been kicked with close marking by the Glory defence, early in the game.

The 'Nix would have been better off by asking someone else to take the spot kick.

The aerial threat of the former Fury striker, McBreen especially during the first half caught the Nix defence napping, but luckily his replacement Jamie Harnwell was not on the field for too long. But, overall, coach Rickie Herbert was out-thought by the shrewder Dave Mitchell who opted for his side to play higher up, and they were also faster and more cohensive.

Bertos was replaced by Ceceras in the second half, and goalkeeper Liam Reddy saved the Nix on a couple of occasions but couldn't prevent the two that went in, whilst Jon McKain and Andrew Durante both played solidly. Chris Greenacre and Ben Sigmund both served necessary gametime before the season campaign nears a close.

As a result, Perth and the Phoenix have swapped places from fifth to sixth, meaning that the 'Nix will have to withstand the visit to Melbourne on Tuesday, before facing an Adelaide side in Christchurch next weekend, if they want to make the play-offs.
